Peter was born and raised in Kenya, East Africa; during his formative years Peter's creative and artistic flair emerged.

When his family returned to England, Peter's day jobs involved various manual trades including pattern-cutting in the shoe industry.

In Peter's leisure hours, his creativity took to the fore, initially with water-colour paintings. His love of wood eventually led Peter to explore the wood crafts. Peter attended a local evening class where he had access to wood working machinery, where he made small tables and started to embellish them with wood carvings. Peter gradually taught himself the techniques of wood carving and this became his life long passion and living.

Peter has been a professional woodcarver for more than 30 years. His Woodpecker Studios workshop is situated in the grounds of Knuston Hall in Irchester, Northamptonshire. The majority of Peter's work is commissioned, and covers a wide range of projects from small-scale hand carved pieces to large outdoor sculptures and furniture.

Peter shares his love of traditional woodcarving with other people through one-to-one personal tuition, teaching at local Adult Education Centres and delivering courses which are held regularly at:
